My tank leaks, and I can't drive it like it is. I really do not want to buy a new tank, but I don't know how to fix mine. I have been told that the tank liner stuff can peel and get into your carbs. I was thinking about using JB weld on all seems and stuff. Does anyone know what to do.

My tank has been supremely fiberglasses on the bottom and has a few pinholes hear the petcock, but I don't like the patching the least bit. I got a tank off ebay for $30, and $70 to have it acid dipped for rust and epoxy coated. Now its just waiting to be painted. IDK about using JB weld on the tank, we did use one of those knead together epoxies to try and hold off the pinhole leaks.

The tank leaks from a lot of pinholes on the bottom. The previous owner patched a lot of them, but there are still some on there. The tank is really rusted pretty bad on the inside though. I might just go to a junk yard and see if they have any. I can get a brand new one painted to match for about 200 bucks. That might be the way to go. Oh and mine is a 1987 600. What other years will fit, or will the 1000 tank fit. Thanks

i don't think the cap will fit, but if the tank comes with a cap, you can get that re-keyed. the tank itself will fit on the bike.

The cap will not fit, shit, even some of the F1 caps won't fit. F2 years went to hex bolted caps with a center removal, F1 years the cap snaps it by itself.
