I'm thinking of getting a 02 F4i, I posted this in another forum but needed personal opinions from people with experience. I'm worried that I won't be able to touch the ground. My inseam is around 27". I was going to get the bike lowered about 3.5 inches. So my question is it possible for me to ride this bike? Haven't heard anything yet from a 5'1 footer so hopefully someone is out there that rides it!

You have a 27" inseam, and your 5'1? wow, you got some legs hmm, I am about 5'7 or so, and have a 28" inseam. I got short legs. I can tip toe each side if the bike is straight up, but I can flat foot if I just slide my rump over to the side a litte, or tilt the bike a little bit. you should be okay, just never park nose facing down hill.

I am 5'2 and I ride a F3. The bike was lowered so my feet are flat on the ground. Personally I feel I have more control being the bike is lower. But the choice is really up to you.

How much did you lower it and what links did you use?

I'm getting different stories. I guess I'll just buy it and have it lowered. I'll make it work

ORIGINAL: Todd84 Also it shows you are in Lansing there is a bike '01 F4i for sale under the Kzoo listings on craigslist for $2500. No pics though. It says its in Athens Yeah I actually called that one, but it has 15,000 miles on it. Mine is $2750 with 5000 miles, all black with the decals. I'm going to find a dealership that has some of these in and sit on one

I know this is a womens section but ill intrude since i feel i can help so i will. Try and shave the seat first. You should be able to take a good 1-2inch out of it. If your still uncomfortable with that then id lower it no more then 1in front and rear. Think of it this way, where you live and ride are you frequently stopping, do you have hills? If not then id say forget lowering it, because your going to be riding a lot more then stopping.

I've ridden a few times now and its not bad without being lowered. However incase of an emergency its not to good for me to be on my tippy toes. The bike is surprisingly well balanced. I don't notice the 70lb. weight different from my other bike which is surprising. I still think I better do the almost 3.5" drop. I just want to know if anyone has there bike lowered this much and has problems over speed bumps because I will be going over those a lot. I have links for a 1.5" drop or just under 3.5". Which one which one. If I do the 1.5" will I have to cut the kickstand? I know if I do 3.5" I will have to.

You'll have to cut the kickstand either way. I wouldnt do a 3.5in drop youd pretty much lose any cornering ability, idk if your into that at all. I believe the f4i has a 6in ground clearance you drop it 3.5 and you have barely nothing, your front will more def bottom out into the upper fairing, your rear will hit the undertail and your license plate. The rear will also feel really bouncy. Id do the 1.5in drop and cut the kickstand. I might have my old one laying around though so ill see if i can find it.

I did the 3.5 in drop just in the back and I didn't notice a difference. Maybe because I just use it to go to class and work. Anyway I went over speed bumps no problems. I guess its because of my weight. Now I can back it up without getting off the bike and pushing.

I just bought my bike and lowered it 1.5'''' and didnt cut the kickstand. It stands up straighter but I dont feel that it will fall over. If you have to lower it to the 3.5'''' then it will definitely have to be cut and your front will have to be lowered also
