I'm looking into getting a sprocket kit so i can pull up easier in 2nd .. can anyone recommend a good brand and what ratio would allow me to do this without taking alot of top end off? thanks for any input!

Increasing your ups is directly proportionate to your loss of top end. What kind of bike do you ride, and what year? The displacement and year (which will tell you weight) has a lot to do with it. The easiest way to do that would be to get some light wheels, but thats costly. Most people do -1/+2... that is pretty much the standard. As a general rule of thumb, one in the front is equal to three in the rear. You really dont want to have any less than 15 in the front, because any smaller can pinch the chain and wear out the joints.

Personally I went to 15/43, which is down one in the front and up one in the rear. It gives me tons of kick in first, but I really have to be moving in second to get it up, (10k plus rpm = at least 70, probably more). My top end went from like 176 or whatever it is stock to like 155, and thats pinging off the rev limiter. The one thing you will notices it that it pulls all the way to the top in every gear.

As far as brands go as long as you get something reputable your fine. If its ups you want, they I do not recommend going with a lighter (narrower) chain, because they can usually handle a smaller torque load. Stick with the 525, and just change the sprockets themselves. As stated before 15 is a good place to start with, and then you can play with the rear as you see fit.

-1+2 is bamf, but i do not do wheelies. i could easily tho, i have to keep it down all the time, im sure^^ knows what he is talking about, but seriously pulling into any gear gives me more power in the beggining then stock, and it makes my front real light. im sure if i pulled the trottle back some more i would be puttin my headlights in the trees

Fellas, I have an 07 RR and I changed my front this weekend from 16 to 15 and now my bike overheats......I have distilled water only in the radiator...Your thoughts?

Is the engine working too hard or it because I only have water?

Add Water Wetter.

Driven is a good Sprocket choice.
