I went for a ride today and noticed something new. When I came to a stop, I would try to get the bike back to neutral but it seemed the gears would stick alittle. If I was in third gear and tried to shift down to neutral, no matter how many times I shifted down, it seemed to be stuck. To fix it all I did was disengage the clutch a little, just to where it would catch, then pull the clutch in again and the gears would shift normally back to neutral. I went for about an hour ride around town and it happened about three times. Any ideas what causes this?? Thanks for the help!

IIRC the gears turning at different rates causes this. IOW, Downshift prior to coming to a full stop.

Not to sound like an idiot but what is IIRC and IOW?? This is something new I noticed today, I haven't changed my riding style. Im also due for an oil change, do you think that might have anything to do with it. Jay from what you said above, I guess this is normal and I just never realized?

did you take the MSF course? always downshift to 1st as you come to a stop(in face keep yourself in a gear that matches your speed, even if the clutch is engaged)...that should be habbit, just in case you need to move real quick

I have been riding for several years, I always downshift when coming to a stop. Sometimes though, you cant make it all the way to first if you stop some what quickly. Like I said, today was the first day I noticed it. I just inquiring to make sure nothing is wrong with the bike. I appreciate the help, keep posting if you have any other ideas, concerns or comments.

Mine does this on occasion as well. Just involves the synchros not lining up. Nothing to worry about.
