Changed out fairings, scratched stator cover, does it start, run, ride with no weird stuff(wobbles, studders), tires good? Chain within limits? Sprockets not too worn(if it is it was probably wheelied a lot). no rust in gas tank...got any pictures yet?

The bike is a friend of a friends. It is high mileage (23,000) but taken care of. Has a couple extra parts laying around for it. I was just curious what I can expect to start replacing after this kind of mileage. Thanks everyone for the prompt replies! Julian

pretty much the only thing u might have to change would be the CCT(cam chain tightener), battery, RR, stator, lightbulbs...nothing really

I would say it depends on what you are paying for it. If its cheap then unless the engine is shot then its worth buying with some problems. I picked up my 98 for about a grand it didnt run at the time but after spending about $100 I had it running perfect. If these bikes sit too long the carbs get gummed up and runs like crap if it runs at all. An easy way to see if they are dirty when it wont start is to turn it over for a couple seconds and pull a hose from the speed controlled air system and see if there is fuel in the air system. I would also say put a new set of plugs on it too they foul pretty easy. I completed my bike with the F4I body work, Vance and Hines pipe, tune up and carb cleaning for under $2000. I already had offers for more than I invested but I like it too much to sell.
