Good points and bad points of the CBR

Be amusing to see ppls short pros and cons of the CBR. Had my 99' model for 18 months and 15,000k now.

Pros
-comfortable
-still looks good
-reliable
-nice midrange power
-link brakes, I like them

Cons
-front suspenion is poor, to soft, no ajustment
-fairing is a bitch to remove (my 6th full faired bike and by far the most fliddley)
-heavy, heavy handling as well
-rear end, to low, makes me look like a lardass:P (personal whine)

Anyway back to the topic at hand. I have an old 87 cane.
-Way too underpowered.
-Alternator & cam chain tensioners poor.
-relatively comfortable except for long straight rides.
-Honda dealers[:@]
-Easy to maintain.
-Simple to balance carbies.

Rusty swingarm and exhaust other than that for the money you pay for these bikes they are exellent [:@]

+1 Blue, except the underpowered bit......?
I know the earlier motors gave a little less horsepower - maybe go down 1 tooth on the front sprocket ?
A friend of mine did that on an 87/88, and bored his motor out to 1150cc......I couldn't even come close !! Blew mine into the weeds..[:@][:@](and most of the bikes he ran against)
Mine eats regulators but I hope that little problem has been resolved.[8|]
Lousy turning circle, and heavy to manoeuvre at low speeds or in restricted spaces.[:@]

Has anyone done a writeup on balancing the carbies ?- mine need doing but some advice would be most welcome.

PROS
- lovely bike, still keeping the looks
- Excelent upgrade (school) bike coming from smaller engines
- This is a machine that runs on pure muscle, no frigging steroids nor electronics gimmics
- Decent ergonomics

CONS
- Wobbling on curves if pushed a little hard.
- Heat from engine roasts your arms and chest on slow traffic
- Seat not fluffy enough (or maybe it's my huge rear end)

In summary a thrill bike that asks nothing in return

Ah me mate Shadow. By underpowered I mean to get it going you have to wring the neck out of it. i.e poor low end power, mid range ok sort of.. I must agree that for their price a top bike & still quick enough to get you into trouble real quick.
As for carbie balancing.. I have already taken some photos so that I can do a how to. Hopefully in the next week or so I'll have time to put it up. Also going to do one on recovering a seat (attempt 1).[:)]

-wobbling on curves? Yet to experience, tyres or shocks need ajustment? Or I don't ride hard enough;)
-Engine heat? Yeah its not good but have a ride of a ZZR1100 or ZX12R in traffic on a hot day when the fans come on, it burns it burns!
-best seat in a sports bike I've ever had:)

I found mine was wobbly in the turns & sent the rear shock to Lindemann Engineering in Callyfornia.  Not so wobbly anymore but the front suspension is too weak even with 10wt oil.  At least compared to my VFR.

Pro:
Still looks good
POWER
Smooth as silk
Mile eater

Con:
Weak fork legs
Non-integrated brakes (I like the modern STuff)
No OEM hardbags
Eats rear tires way too fast
