Hi guys !!! im kinda new to the forum, I ride a 954 that I just bought a few weeks ago. I'v had this bike all the way torn appart and put in all new gaskets... The bike has been throwing codes since I got it. It blinks 3 long and 4 ahort. It does this a few times and then stays on while I ride... I should mention that I think there are some parts missing from my air box. I have the sensor (hooked up) in the middle bottom of the box, filter, and stacks, but nothing else. There looks to be things missing... There is a brass threaded plug on the left side of the air box, but I cant find anything that goes to it... I also have a plug outside of the air box with long wires that has no home. Im wondering if this will affect my proformance or gas mileage. Will it damage the bike riding around like this? Please help Im new and know little bout these... thanks again.

Probably an air-box and/or HTEV mod. The code is a 34 and I don't have the manual (though yours is available free at www.stephygee.com). 35 is the fail-code for the 929's for the servo motor that operates the airbox valve and the HTEV. If the previous owner didn't install a Power Commander or you haven't, chances are it's running lean because of the airbox mod, and definitely lean if the HTEV has been modded. The bike would now be getting more air than the ECU has been mapped for. There is a thread in the 929 section titled, "HTEV servo something-or-other." You can do a bit of reading up there about how it affects power. Good luck to ya.

P.S. Long blink = value of 10, short blink = value of 1. 3 long, 4 short = 34. P.S. Lol, sorry... it will also stop blinking and remain lit with the FI displayed on the cluster after raising the kick stand. In the 929 manual it says under possible problems from the MIL (trip code you're seeing), "will not affect the operation of the motorcycle."

I just printed the list of codes tonight, it shows 34 as Faulty EGCV and air intake valve servo motor but it says engine will operate normally. The manual show ways to test and eliminate problems for each code, it is really helpful!! Go to www.repairmanualclub.com register (it's free) and download the manual, it will take awhile. Good luck!!

Thats good news.... I didnt want to ride the bike if it was gonna hurt her... There doesnt seem to be any intake valve servo in the intake box... Should I disconnect anything else to go along with this (as i dont have the missing parts to fix it properly) like the o2 sensor? So does this still mean that it is running lean?
