HI I BOUGHT A 87 HURRICANE CBR 600 IVE BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS NOW OFF AND ON , ANYWAYS SO THE BIKE WAS HARDLY RUNNING WHEN I GOT IT WE FLUSHED OUT THE TANK NEW PETCOCK CLEANED THE CARBS INSTALLED STATOR ! DROVE IT SAT ALL DAY RAN LIKE A CHAMP PARKED IT OVER NIGHT AND WOULDNT START THE NEXT MORNING HEARD A CLANK SOUND WHERE STARTER CLUTCH IS THEN STARTER SPINNING WHEN I TRY TO START BIKE FIGURED STARTER WENT OUT ! I WAS WRONG THE END OF THE CRANKSHAFT BROKE OFF AND WHEN I TOOK STARTER CLUTCH PLATE OFF ABOUT 2 GALLONS OF GAS CAME OUT WITH IT ! I REALLY DONT WANT TO SINK ALOT OF MONEY INTO THIS BIKE FOR A TOTAL REBUILD JOB WOULD IT BE POSSIBE TO WELD THE END OF THE CRANKSHAFT BACK TOGATHER WHER IT BROKE OFF AND THEN MAYBE PUT A SHUT OFF VALVE ON THE FUEL TANK? I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW IT COULD RUN GREAT ALL DAY NO BACKFIRE NO HESITATION NO MISSING, NOT EVAN A SPUDDER , IF I CUT THE FUEL OFF WHEN NOT RIDDING THIS SHOULD NOT ALLOW GAS TO GO INTO ENGINE? IS THIS A TRUE STATEMENT ? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPERCIATED!!
