How do you clean your rear wheel?

Cleaning my bike today, I noticed chain lube on my rear wheel and it's hard to clean.

Is there any spray or cleaner that makes cleaning easy?

I use wd-40.

I use rim cleaner that comes in a green bottle from wal-mart. Made for rims on cars

Simple Green Automotive works great.

WD-40 , spray on a rag and wipe off.

WD works great, then I use Windex or something like that just to clean of any oily residue from the WD.

no side effects from the WD40????????

I would guess that you have to be carefull to keep it off of your tires. That is probably why MgA_ODEN said to spray it on a rag first.

I normally use the wheel cleener from Wal-Mart, but I am going to try WD40 next time.

I use the wd-40 for inbetween washes, wheel cleaner if giving it a thorough wash.

I also use simple green.  Doesn't leave any residue.

If you keep your wheels decent, you'll only have to use windex. Thats what I did today, just wiped the grime off with windex, didn't even have to use the wheel cleaner. Of course maybe I"m just not throwing that much grease down anymore, who knows.

I am surprised that WD-40 could be used to clean grease on the wheels.

Thanks.

Same here.  The WD-40 works wonders on the wheel and chain.  Actually, I haven't use chain lube on my bikes in several years.  I was tired of all the gunk from the chain lube.  The kinda I had was chain wax.  It goes on clear but ends up black.  Also, I noticed grits of sand from the road stuck to the chain worse also.  Which can't be good for it.  All, I use to lube them now is WD-40.  It keeps them from rusting too.  I had 13000 on my 954's chain when I traded it.  It still was in great shape.

Go to WD-40 website.  There are over 1,000 uses for the 40.  Cleaning is one of them.  The stuff works miracles on grease, bugs and tar.  Lots of people in the Automotive detailing business use it!!!
