steezin600 -> oil pan fit???? (5/13/2008 9:40:44 PM)

i have a 91 cbr 600f2 and have a hairline crack in my oil pan. i found a cheap oil pan resevoir on ebay for a 87 600 crb hurricane. will this fit on my ride? is this what i need to replace?

I doubt those other oil pans will fit, but I can't say for sure. Any F2 oil pan should fit though, checkout craigslist and ebay. Alternatively, buy one new from an OEM dealer such as bikebandit.com (link). The oil pan for your bike is $162 and $9.62 for the gasket. Bikebandit offers discounts to AMA card holders (but not much).

See if you can find a local welding shop that will work in aluminum. There's a place here in Cheyenne (Wyoming) that would do a job like that for about $20. You just have to be sure to let them know it MUST stay true though. Any warpage would cause it to not seal properly.

i will keep that in mind. thanks. thats a good idea if this othere one doesnt fit... its not too hard to replace yourself is it? just have to take off the exhaust and then unbolt the old one...

Exactly...but make sure you get a new gasket and COMPLETELY remove the old one from the block or you will be guaranteed to have a leak. Furthermore, the service manual recommends replacing the seals on the exhaust headers, too.

Where can we get the exhaust gasket at. I cant find it on ebay. I just took off my exhaust head pipe because i was completly cleaning the bike over.

thanks for your help guys! it was a crack in the oil pan and i just got a replacement from the junkyard and replaced it. i actually didnt have to take off the exhaust, im pretty happy about that. and there was no gasket on my old one or my new one. just used sealant and it doesnt leak at all. thanks again

Glad to see you got it fixed.  If I didn''t have the option of buying a used one, I would have probably used JB Weld.
