exhaust power increase

FutureScars83 -> exhaust power increase (5/14/2008 5:38:23 PM)

Do aftermarket exhausts really increase horsepower, or does it it just feel faster because it sounds cooler. I'm talking about just putting an RS-3 slip on or something similar, not a full system. No PCIII either. Does anyone have dyno proof or seen proof personally. I was just curious because I heard the youtube clip of the RS-3 (baffled and open) and it sounded awesome. Just tryin to find out if I'll be paying for extra power or just great sound.
Thanks

I have the rs-3......and honestly, i did not notice a power increase, but it does sound cool, typically just a slip on is going to give you minimal (3-5 hp) gains, if any....take the D and D for example.....all noise.....no offense to anyone that has one.

its all in your mind.    added HP from a slip on is minimal, most people seem to feel a large difference becuase of a combination of a)new lighter exhaust b) new power commander c) they just spend all that money.[;)]   Its really that your wallet is just lighter.

Yeh but it does sound cool..Let's just all agree to say that it gives us more power and we'll all feel better about ourselves

Not much power 3-5 HP.....but the sound difference is amazing in any exhaust!

Gain is in the grin factor only, but it does sound cool. Oh and it's also safer - loud pipes save lives!

Some say you get more hp and others say you don't. I put on a Two Bros. pipe and the difference in weight helps because its lighter. I dyno'd my bike and say about 3 horses more is all. Aftermarket pipes look better and sound better. They let people know when your coming so you don't get cut off.

looks and sounds cooler. all there is to it. lighter/less bulky if you're working with it at some point.

RojerLockless -> RE: exhaust power increase (5/15/2008 1:27:02 PM)

it doesnt increase it enough to make a difference you are paying for the sound. now if you get a full system and a PC and a custom map you will get most of the time around 10hp but most of that is in the top end of your rev range something most street riders rarely use anyway.

Spent a lot of money on a new exhaust & pcIII...had nothing leftover for food...lost 10 lbs....bike is quicker now![8D]

i have installed the fmf powercore s, i feel no gain in power, but i really feel how the titanium slipon changed the handling. my rubber was more ate from the left side and the left corners were easier to do, now i feel much lighter right side and do the right turns with more pleasure. sorry for bad english.

kneepuck oo envy -> RE: exhaust power increase (5/22/2008 4:09:36 PM)

you wont "feel" any gains until you start getting the whole package and other supporting mods...full system, PCIII, air filter (something similar to BMC; K&N is whatever), driving parts like a 520 conversion with more aggressive gearing, ignition module, etc. etc. etc...remember that powers not only limited to the engine...its mostly "felt" when the power you already have is transferred to the ground more efficiently (i.e. -1/+2 w/ 520)...

so to answer your question, no, the slip on wont to anything noticeable...
