I am looking into purchasing a sportbike and have seen great reviews about the 08 cbr1000, but I saw some people complained about the comfort of the bike on bigger guys. I was wondering if they were just being picky, I'm 5'10 200 lbs and have been riding a cruiser for the last 5 years. Just wondering how everyone felt about foot placment and comfort.

Also I read they complained about the power transition being unrefined, has anyone really noticed it? Thanks in advance for any input.

I don't have one, but after sitting on one for a long time it felt good to me. I'm 6'2". Coming from a cruiser to ANY sportbike may be rough on ya!

I'm 5'8 190lbs. It's pretty comfortable to me. Best way to know it is to go to a honda dealer and try it yourself.

I am 6'2" and 245 lbs. and the bike is more comfortable than my '04 1000RR but then again comfort isn't the first thing I think of when I think of a liter bike.

I would recommend against getting a Corbin.  I had one on my '04 and it wasn't any "softer" than the stock but it is wider almost like the tractor style seats they put on old school Hardleys.  I am going to get the Honda comfort seat.

Power transition being unrefined??????? Are you kidding me this machine is 1000% awesome with plently of refined powerband. Don't believe everything you hear... those are the jealous haters who dont have one but really want one....lol

Ive been riding machines since the 80's and this by far is the most comfortable bike I've ridden.

I bought mine a month and half ago, and already have 2000 miles so what does that tell you...i can't stop riding her...it's ssoooooooo comfortable.

i agree with the fella about coming a cruiser to litre bike..its gonna be way difffrent.. i would think b/c ive not ridden too many crusiers..

oh btw...  im 5'11 215lbs and totally comfy on this bike... again ergo has gotten better and better with updated models..

I had the 01 erion 929rr and 04' cbr 1k and this again is more  comfortable..

good luck dude..my suggest

buy it !!!! you never ever regret it.....[;)]

I'm a 6'1" 245 pound lard ass and I find it fine. I just try not to look in a shop window when I  ride past because I look like I stole it from a pram (buggy) shop. It is small compared to a cruiser. Comfort wise I did 545 miles in one day and was no worse of than I was on my VFR. Even though it is small it is still set up for bigger guys and smaller guys. I am going to Mugello in Italy  for the MOTOGP in 10 days time thatis 3500 miles round trip in 10 days including 3 at the track and I am taking the blade instead of the VFR. So comfort not a concern for me but I am fitting a Powerbronze double bubble to get rid of some wind blast. Buy one ride one love one.

The power and low end torque is better then any other liter bike with the exeption of maybe the new zx-10 *but only in the top rev ranges* the honda has much better torque down low which is where you use it more often.

love mine

I am 6'3'' 225lbs and I find the bike to be comfortable.   The issue is that you are coming from a cruiser which is a completely different animal.  You really can't compare those bikes to sport bikes because they are so very different.  What I find to be comfortable may drive you crazy.  I went for a rather long ride yesterday on my 08 and the only thing that bothered me was that my ass does not like the seat very much.  But I also have been off sportbikes for a while so riding is something I have to get used to again.

jwred306 -> RE: ? for all the 08 cbr 1000rr owners (5/15/2008 4:43:17 PM)

I appreciate all the feed back, I figured all the negative comments people were saying about the bike were probably not true, since it has been rated very well by most testers. I think its time to start looking for a good deal now.

Litrekid -> RE: ? for all the 08 cbr 1000rr owners (5/15/2008 9:00:53 PM)

Just remember the way to ride one is to not put your weight on your hands.  Relax your arms and hold your self up with your core.  Im 5`9 and 200 lbs and Im quite comfy.  You just have to learn the right posture to ride one.  Thats how I feel about it anyway![sm=icon_blah.gif]

08blazingcbr -> RE: ? for all the 08 cbr 1000rr owners (5/22/2008 6:19:16 PM)

6'2" 200lbs good seating position havent found a flaw on it yet

RockChalkRR -> RE: ? for all the 08 cbr 1000rr owners (5/25/2008 8:12:10 PM)

I had a Sargent seat on my '05 which was very comforable.  I'd recommend that over corbin.  Looks better too.

TrevyTrevz -> RE: ? for all the 08 cbr 1000rr owners (5/26/2008 5:39:14 PM)

Im 6'2 at 155 pounds and it is very comfortable for a tall guy and it doesnt feel like all my weight is on my wrist its all spred out in my opion and as for the power it runs strong in every gear like a champ with a killer power band :) very happy with the bike
