I went with the stock cct, put it on tonight at about 8 and went for a little test ride.  I cant believe that damn rattle is finally gone!  I figured the original cct lasted 45k befor it started acting why not slap it on and not worry about tweaking with it.  it was the easiest thing ive ever done, peeled off the gasket(ever so carefully), put the new one on torqued it down, pulled the pin and BAM! my rattle exsists no more.
I guess we'll see just how long it lasts

the new camera phone sure is fun

Ok, what is a CCT and how much it cost you.  From what it looks like it is the Timing chain tensioner thingy?

CCT is an akronym for cam chain tensioner

Manual is about $50.

I can't say I agree with ya but it's your bike!  No doubt it should last a while I'm just more a fan of permanent fixes... I wanna have my F3 when I'm 80, lol.

Nice work.

I heard a rattle every now and then when I start the bike in the morning, When I ride I don't hear anything of course of the wind noise.

Since I don't have the tool as the manual states, I just leave it alone until it gets on my nervous.  As of right now I am ok with the noise every now and then.

I was so sick of that rattle i didnt even care to put a manual one on and worry about weather or not it would fix the issue.  Thats why i bought the stock cct.  If it goes out again i'll buy the ape cct, but with the stock one i just had to put it on and it would fix it or not, no question of my mechanical finetuning abilities :D  I was also going on the logic that in 11 years im sure they've redesigned and improved their design so why shouldnt it work better

My CCT was on it's last leg around 45K too and I replace it with the OEM CCT.  It was a 15 minute job.  It was a wonderful feeling to hear the bike start up and not hear a marble in there.

SproutF3, Dick Mann sputtered across the finish line during one of his victories in the early 1960's due to a failing CCT.  He was riding a Honda.

Food for thought.

And just so you know - since you tightened those bolts on that CCT yourself, you are automatically qualified to install a manual CCT - all it requires is you to tighten 2 bolts to torque, and the other bolt until the noise goes away at idle.  That is not difficult my friend  (I'm not exaggerating, either, it's that simple)
