Everybody has their own style of riding ..so as far as maximizing rpms through the each gear,

How far do you go up on the rpm before you shift each gear ...

That really depends upon what you're trying to do, man.  The term "maximizing" is pretty subjective.

If what you want is fuel efficiency, then I believe 4 or 5k is considered normal shifting.  If you want to drag, well, the answer to that is pretty obvious.  You can find all shades of gray in between.

Can you maybe be more specific with what you're looking for?

Not looking for anything specific. Just...over all variations of how riders shift their machines and any reasons why they might shift in higher rpm then lower or vice versa.... thanks

After a few threads here about stator function, and having just replaced mine, and Honda saying low RPM's are bad, I make an effort to keep my RPM over 5k now as much as possible.  It was weird, cause right after I did 2 long boring slow group rides, my stator went out.  I had never rode like that, and most likely never will again, since my frickin stator failed the next day.

Depends on the ride.

I usually just keep it in 1st or 2nd if I am running around town. Shifting around 5k-5.5k

If I am out on a moderate paced run, then I am shiffting around 7-8k depending on what kind of group I am with.

If I am balls out, well I think we all know where we are shifting then

I normally keep my RPM between 3k-4k. I use up to 5th gear in town. When I'm out for fun, I shift around 8k.

I usually keep the RPM's higher around town, so mostly 1st or 2nd gear if around 45mph mark.  Just to use the engine for engine brakeing in case anyone pulls out in front of me.  This plus covering the front brake at all times seems to provide me with the best tools for dealing with the usual idiots.

On the freeway I shift up pretty quick cuz I'm looking for gas mileage 4-5k shift points.
