I recently purchased a 1991 and love the bike but now I have a problem with the headlamp fuse blowing everytime it warms up and I hit a bump or get on the throttle. I have looked for a bare wire or a loose connection but have found no problems yet. Any help would be appreciated.

It can only be a loose power wire, or something bare against the frame - you'll have to pull the front end off I think, unless it's somewhere under the fuse panel.....If you need the wiring diagram, PM me......

Huskerkan and Shadow - here is a thought ... before pulling off front end...... check that the system is not overcharging (faulty regulator / rectifier) as this will blow light globes and fuses - especially when the motor is reved (read .. ridden for till the bike warms up).

Connect a volt meter across the battery (approx 12.4 volts with nothing on) - start the motor - rev to 5000 rpm - the volts should not be greater than approx 15 volts. If greater than 16 volts read this forum on Regulator / Rectifier checks.

I'd agree with Naga Thai if it was blowing more than one fuse - in all the reg/rec's I've had, it never blew a single light bulb or fuse, so whilst it's a good thing to check, my money's still on a faulty power wire rubbing on something - happens, as you say, when you hit a bump.......

Look for something rubbing when the front end goes up and down (brakes and throttle)

Had as similar problem with mine just after i bought it ? first weekend out on the bike and it hammerd down with rain main/dipped switch got wet internally and turned them both on blowing fuses 1 after another ? didn't know what it was till i went out at night and noticed the mainbeam light was on slightly and flicking the switch did nothing, drying it out with an airline and adding some silicone grease sorted it out , also found the previous owner had fitted 100w/80w bulbs in it so that didnt help, so lucky it didnt cook the wiring also.. switches thats another place to look ?
