Hey guys I am new here, but i wanted to know
What is the diffrence between F4, F4i, and the RR?
I got a 2002 F4i, silver and red. I love it, 5,800 miles on it, only need to change the oil, never been dropped and it has new tires and brakes, also a charger and a joe rocker bag for cell phone and additional stuff. I got this steal for $5100 ya amazing huh?
Problem is, I have never rode before, and this is the bike I will learn on, any malfunctions with the F4i, is this a good bike, any warnings or congrads on chosing this bike, just tell me I need to find out some info on this bike.

i bought an 06 f4i brand new as my 1st bike, still have it, and love it
i would definitely invest in some frame sliders, since your a new rider...you WILL drop it, so dont get too attached to the paint
the F4 was, at the time, honda's 600cc race replica bike...then the RR came along as the race replica(and fuel injected)...and the F4i became a more relaxed sport bike, as well as fuel injected(hence the "i")...the F4i is more a little more comfy with a more relaxed seating position, and the banana seat, and its also *slightly* detuned from the RR(i believe like 4 hp)
also i would suggest investing in some good gear if you havent already...helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, etc

That's a nice deal.
Take the MSF course and spend some of the money you saved on getting full gear. including pants and boots. Both these will be invaluable starting off on a bike.
Always remember that this is a full-on sportbike, so dont push it for the first 4-5 months. Ride within your limits and with your wits about you.

Joe Rocket, Alpine Stars, there are alot of good brands. Its all personal preference. Congrats on the bike. Go to a parking lot and learn to stop and start with your clutch. Learn to take your corners and get the feel of you bike. I recommend to not give rides to passengers until you feel comfortable with your bike first.

+1 on no passengers, especially if they aren't experienced passengers. Yes, there is a huge difference. People who aren't used to being a passenger will do some wierd things back there (thinking they are helping). Enjoy your bike and be safe.

Don't wanna spoil your fun but rather educate you but that price is a little high. I got mine almost in the same condition if not a little better for 4800 and i dont even think this was a good price i was just desperate. Usually 01-03's go for 5000 at most even with low mileage. But welcome and an oil change is easy as 1-2-3!

It's not a bad deal.
Maybe not a steal, but you definitely didn't get ripped off.
Frame sliders are definitely a good idea.
I wouldn't ever suggest anyone get a brand new bike as their first, since the probability of dropping it is pretty high(not knocking on your skills, it just is), but congratulations. Have fun, don't be stupid, realize that everyone else on the road IS out to kill you, and you'll be alright.

personally, i have a scorpion exo400 helmet, very comfortable, easy to use, $130 dollars. MotoGP textile jacket ($75 shipped). Power Trip DTP leather jacket ($99 shipped at newenough.com) and power trip leather gloves.

yea i have a scorpion exo400 also and i love it.
its so comfortable, more comfortable than anything in the motorcycle shop here... they also didnt have shoeis and arais, but i couldnt have spent 500 on a helmet anyway, so its def the most comfortable in the price range.
i also got an Alpinestars RC-1 Textile jacket which is PERFECT.
it has a liner in it that will keep u warm in 40 degree riding, or u can take the liner out and it has really nice venting that feels cool in 75 degree weather. it hasnt gotten very hot here yet, but it seems like it will still be comfortable in warmer weather.
def. wear ur helmet too.
alot of guys dont, and im not bashing htem but u never know when something can happen, no matter how good of a rider u are, u cant control everything, i just read a wreck in the off topic section where two of our members were rounding a corner, and a truck going the other way spilld a bunch of rocks/dirt in front of them... nothing they could do and they went down...
also i was riding w my friend who likes to go helmetless, and he just happened to put it on this time... we were going around a smooth corner at probably 45-50 mph range, not very fast, but his back tire slid out and he low sided and said he cracked his head on the ground pretty hard, and it was just a smooth slide out... so i can only image if its someone pulling out in front of u, or if u low side out and hit soemthin like a parked car or a curb.
sometimes i feel dumb, or out of place when im riding with 6+ guys and im the only one with a helmet and riding jacket on, but i know in the long run its much better to have them. plus it seems quiter, and like a nice safe little bubble when ur riding that u can just kinda relax in.

Congrats on the F4i! it's a great bike and you will love it, Even with the low miles im not sure I would have paid over 5k for an 6 year old bike, the blue book on my 05 is 5k and it only has 8k miles but depending where you are in the country is a Huge difference in bike price so regardless congrats! Welcome! and enjoy the Honda
