Fork Springs for a 90

bigape -> Fork Springs for a 90 (5/22/2008 9:04:11 AM)

Now that I have my '90 1000F on the road, I noticed that the front forks seemed a little soft for my weight (a little over 230 pounds).  So, I have been combing ebay to find a set of progressive springs.  I found a set for the 87-88 Hurricane and a set for the 93-96 1000F.  Are the springs between the 90-91 model and the 93 model that different?  Will the 93-96 springs work in my 90?  So long as they are the same diameter and length, I would guess that the would work.  As I recall, the real differences between the 90-91 model and the 93-96 was the linked braking system (so the rotors and calipers are totally different) and the upper fairing was a little pointier.  Other than that, they look the same.  The 93 doesn't have inverted forks.

Anyone know the answer to this?

Have a look at "quick suspension question" on page 4 of the posts - may help you.
Otherwise, try adding 10ml of fork oil to each leg - will firm up a bit......[:)]
Also -"fork springs - which manufacturer ?" - posted by Malbojah on 28th April, and "Incredible long fork springs" by R1000 on 8th Dec 2006.....

I went for the Racetech springs with a 1.0 kg setting (250lb fat ass) Just haven't had any lift space in my shed to dismantle the front end (working on my Sabre at the moment so I have something to ride while working on the CBR)

I actually got up with Sonic and they have the 1.2kg/mm in stock.  I plan to order some next week.

But after reading some of the other posts on replacing the front fork springs, I am wondering if the rear will suck after I get the front sorted out.  I wonder if fox or someone makes a replacement rear shock.

Nobody that I know of make rear shocks (Racetech, Progressive HyperPro, Fox, Sonic)

Ohlins do shocks for the 87/88 and 89 on, but not cheap !!! Here's a link
