Sorry to hear it, you have pictures??? Went riding with 3 people the other day and a guy on a brand new 08 gsxr 600 took out a mailbox because he couldn't make the turn. I feel kinda partially responsible since I knew the road, knew the curve coming up was really long and fun, and you had to know the corner or else take it slow, but failed to give the hand signal to him to slow down. Anyhow, he's ok, the bike just has some rash on the right side nothing major. Just glad he's ok.

Did HE know the road? I don't know why anyone would be going super speed racer on a road they didn't know, that's just rediculous. I don't think you should feel responsible at all. I HATE going on new roads. I don't know the turns so I take it pretty slow until I've been on it a few times. I really really hate the feeling of going into a turn and then it all of a sudden gets sharper around the bend . I just close my eyes and hope I make it! lol

Mike

No he didn't know the road, he just bought the bike and is a brand new rider. We should have had him 2nd in the group so he didn't feel the need to "keep up". Either that or slowed the pace down. We were going slow, but apparently not slow enough. Anyhow, it could have been worse I guess.

Same thing happened to me this past Saturday, but I was riding with my best friend and very trusted rider, he is 6'2" and weighs 265+ lbs on his 2002 GSXR 1000, I am on my 600RR and weigh 190 lbs.

He lost his front brakes and we (there were 3 of us) were turning into a road to hit up a lake house party and BAM!!  I get hit and catapulted into the woods, I just let go and was running back to him to get him out of the road and he jumps up and screams get the bike, so we pick it up and continue to ride to the party (about 1/2 mile farther).  We get there, he's in pain but refuses to go get checked.  His bike has a bent front rotor, and some fairing damage.  My bike has the left side spool ripped off (the bolt DID NOT bend, it ripped right out of the aluminum threads, so I'll need another swing arm eventually  3rd one) and some light cosmetic damage to my swing arm and the fender eliminator and license plate are bent to hell and some more minor scratches on the tail, but my frame sliders are awesome and they did the trick again and I just put extended bar ends to protect my Pazzo shorties, so no damage there...we checked my bike Sunday and nothing major seems bent...his front pinch bolts on his forks hit my swing arm end so perfectly, he missed my chain adjuster and tail and exhaust somehow and he just like sling-shotted me off the road but he stopped dead and went head over heels...

...so anyways, here's the trick...we go to the casino after the party (he insisted we go), get home at like 4 am (by this time my boy's girl came and picked up up in his pick-up with the two crashed bikes in the back) and I talk to him Sunday, he's in lots of pain but thinks he's ok...then yesterday he calls me saying he just left the hospital and has two fractures of his hip...now he's at a specialist today and may need surgery...sucks man, it was a very uncomfortable position that I was pissed he hit my bike but he's one of my closest friends so I started to worry about him more and then he starts saying "It's my fault, I'll pay for your parts" but I don't care at this point and I was trying to get him to go to the hospital but he's so damn stubborn and didn't want to ruin the good time and he stood there for 6 hours with a fractured pelvis and it just sucks, man...should have been quite a good time but it was just one of my worst riding days ever.  He was wearing a helmet and thank god because he landed head first when he did the barrel roll over the handle bars and landed on his back but his hip hit the pavement hard and it's fractured in two spots.

Damn, I didn't want to write that much, and sorry to thread jack but I don't want to start another thread for a similar occurence...

...and it sounds like I never want rash because I don't want rocks embedded in my body.  That sounds like it really sucks.

Always watch for danger... and our mirrors aren't made for watching things behind us very well. Keep the dangers out in front of you and you'll always have at least SOME time to react.  Glad your friend is gonna be okay and that he lived.

It's a shame to see a 636 being abused/crashed by a novice..
Tell your buddy to stick to the lots if he feels like doing pow pows..
