I have a question for anyone with an aftermarket header or even a full exhaust.....

what is the difference in the headers that come stock on a 929 to say any others in say weight or design?

are their resonators in the stock non-cali model exhaust pipes?

I ask that one because I just did a friends f4i and the stock pipe had a resonator/ catilatic conver after her O2 sensor and the new pipe didn't.

I know one of the major restrictions on stock 929's is the stock muffler which can be easily swapped out, and aside from the HTEV, is there any other restictions in the stock set up?

No restrictions other then the htev, 929 and 954 were the last to come with factory titanium headers (as far as i know).. hence why the pipe turns rainbowy and not rusty like other factory headers

aftermarket exhaust are usually made of stronger material so the header pipes can be made thinnner, the shapes and pathes of the head pipes are also maximized for exhaust flow more power. the stock pipes are made on a production level and honda probably didnt want to spend a lot of money on exhaust r&d. i like micron and have a full micron exhaust. visit their web site and there is more info on there exhaust. also check out hardracing.com for some info.

yeah I get the stronger material part but um you don't get much stronger than titanium though!

I have read that hardracing bit on the ''fact'' that micron serpents are the top of all exhaust for the 929 and how their ram-air set up make all this extra hp and all but they don't carry them anymore and very few people have them. strange!!!

I like the micron system as well but is it made of titanium?

and if I replace the HTEV with an eliminator and slap on a nice titanum can mated to those wonderful headers and throw some coin at getting a customm map, how many hp would I be off of a micron set up of equal weight or how much money would I save as well?

Bigg i would be hard pressed to believe that the Micron system could make much more power (1-3hp maybe) then stock headers, hass eliminator, and a good slipon. The only thing i can see would be that maybe Micron headers have slightly better scavenging then stock, but i cant see it being all that much better. I have no proof what so ever, just going off personal thought, and knowledge of crap
