Ok all started saturday night while riding to pick up my newly painted tail fairing on my 99 f4 red/black. Pull over to get gas and put it in neutral. Only the light wont come on so I reached down and put it in by hand,(thinking I was just missing it). Still no light. So get gas and take off only to see that nothing on my gauges work. No : temp, rpm, mph, turn signals, brights, nothing. So I kept going making sure to feel if the bike was getting hotter or not. Ran like a champ. Got back after picking up the peices 1 hr ride. Still nothing worked. Soon as I got back I realized my tail light and brake light was not working. I checked the 4 fuses under the seat and the main 30 amp and all check good. I even wiggled them a lil. Now it wont start. The only thing that works is my headlight and brights. This is so weird and I am taking it to the shop tommorow. BUT any ideas? thanks fellas ( thank god this site is working right again.)

Wow thats a tough one!  I had a similar thing happen to my bike.  The gauges and tail light stopped working, but it still ran fine, and the fan kicked on if it got too hot.  BUT, it was just a fuse under the seat that kept blowing.  You might replace the fuses anyway and see if it helps...? Idk.  One could have gotten cracked or something.  Just a guess though.  Good luck with the shop otherwise.

Same thing happened to me on the highway yesterday (nothing like killing your brake and turn lights doing 75).  I took it home and standing on the left side of the bike looking at the fuse box, it was the second one down.  Yours may have popped and you just cant see it.  But it took out my gauge cluster, turn and brake lights - just like you.  My headlight also stayed functional.  I'm almost 100 percent sure this is your problem.  As for your bike not starting, the top 10 fuse is ignition.  You probably broke it wiggling and taking it out.  Just replace both of those and make sure there is not corrosion in the fuse box under the fuses.  No need to panic my friend.

Now determining this problem is a different scenario.  I don't know what caused it other than it was a hot and humid day.  I put 3 extra spares in there just in case this happens again when I'm not so close to home.

Awesome thanks guys. Its already at the shop hopefully I can go check it out while its there deff gonna try those two fuses. Is it possible for a fuse to be blown but the middle indication strip is not burnt? I guess it is idk.
