ORIGINAL: RCR There is no such thing as a "squid" as reference to his apperance. It's the actions of a rider. So the pick above of the arian brother with no lid or jacket rides home without incident is he still a squid? I think not. If Nick Hayden rode a wheelie thru an intersection in full gear and ran into a mini van would he be a squid? I think so.. According to most, the lack of gear is a squidable offence. I say if you think that and your not wearing track approved one piece leathers, boots, full gloves and a top of line helmet. then your a squid!!! I really don't care if someone else is wearing less gear then they should, it's there problem if they go down and get road rash not mine. There not breaking any laws unless its a helmet mandatory state. I agree with RCR. The actions of most riders make them squids...

I think that if you''re worried about being a squid, you are already one! Ride your ride and don''t worry about what others do. I was wearing my gear when I went down. Didn''t stop me from riding outside of my limits at the time. Just because someone is wearing their gear, does not make them safe. Nor does it make them any better of a rider. I have found that most of the time the ones who are fully suited up for street riding, are the ones who were able to pay for the suits with their credit when they bought their brand new bike. Don''t get me wrong, I am all for All The Gear All The Time! I try to be ATGATT whenever I ride. But sometimes I am willing to take the chance when I am just going to the store or going to softball and such.

It''s a personal choice to wear how ever much gear you want. Everyone knows what can happen and you gotta calculate the risks. I think there are a lot of squids but mainly a lot of d-bags. quote:
How are flip flops not uncomfortable to ride in? I tried just sitting on my bike in sandals and realized that it wasn''t going to work.

If I see 3 riders a week in full gear it is a lot, usually less than that, the cops in this town wear short sleeves are they squids? What about the Pagans and the Warlocks, all squids? Does that mean that 99% of the riders out there are squids?
