ZDUB -> sprocket question (6/3/2008 1:55:58 PM)

Hey guys I have a Quick question about sprockets. I was thinking about going 4 or 5 up in the back on my f4i to pull 2nd and maybe 3rd gears easier but  i still like to cruise. Is this to drastic. Also I was wondering if it makes any difference if you go like 5 up or down and 2 up. I heard sticking with the back doesnt mess with the speedo as much also I heard it easier .

Thanks

I don''t think that you have to go 5 up in the back unless you want to lift it in 5th or 6th. I would just just go down 1 or 2 in the front and 2 in the back.

You want to go down in the front and up in the back or any combination of the above. Going -2 in the front is really hard on the bike though, however -1 is fine, tons of people do that. I usually recamend just going -1 in the front to see how you like that, its very cheap, only about 25 bucks, and very easy to install. 3rd gear standers will be a snap like that. But then if you still want a little more you can add +2 in the rear and still keep the same chain also.

I have -1 in the front and +2 at the back.
TK954RR is right I still have the stock chain, well stock length chain.
Their RK x-chain.
I like the set up, you can really feel the difference.
Also, your not loosing a lot of the top end.

I''m -1/+13.

I also run a 190-55-17 tire rather than a 190-50-17.  Stock chain length is 108, It takes me 116 with that sprocket / tire setup.

So obviously a stunt bike... but check this out.

First gear went from 83mph at the limiter to 61.  Still a first gear about equal to a 600cc bike.  Top speed in 6th at the limiter is down from 187 (theoretical) to 139 pinned.  Pretty large loss, but when was the last time you went 139 for any real purpose seriously?  At 6000 rpm doing the speed limit on the highway... up from 4500 rpm stock.

And my god the torque.

So yeah, I like my configuration... best of all worlds in my opinion!
