my 08 1000 RR doesn't seem to have a lot of off the line grunt....i mostly do canyon riding....and local riding.....i'm thinking of changing my rear sprocket....the guy at R Cal racing say maybe go up 1 tooth......any suggestions?.....maybe i'm a whimp on the throttle i dunno....it just seems that i have to rev it higher than my 600 to get it going....i know changing the sprocket won't help me off the line

Changing your gearing will help you off the line actually. I was under the impression that the 08's were geared down already compared to past models, i am sure someone will chime in shortly though about that. On every bike i have ever owned i found going  -1 in the front to be perfect, little snappier response, and makes all the gears feel more torquey. I dont think i would waste 80 bucks on a rear sprocket to just go up 1 tooth, it wont make a huge difference. If you do -1 front that sprocket will only cost ya about 25 bucks, but if you want to change the rear i would suggest +2 anyhow to make it worth the money, and it will be a bit more noticeable. That would be very close to going -1 in the front, thats equivilant to +2.5 in the rear.

Your 08 1krr is having grunt problems???

Wow...

I guess I'm just satisfied with my wimpy 600. Driven my brothers 06 1krr, and that thing pulls wheelies tooling along at 4 thousand rpm's doing 60...what more could you want? Damn.

I went -1 up front on my 08 and its an animal now. You have to watch it though cause at about 9k in 1-3 it comes up hard if you have the throttle pinned and I''m 255lbs. I use this setup on the track and love it. I just got a pipe also and it yanks hard right out the hole.

Its easy to change and no you dont have to do anything else, your speed will only be off a few miles an hr. If you need help with taking the sprocket off let me know Ill send you picks and instructions.

Its not necessary, you really dont need to change the speedo unless your making a greater change.
