Ok lets see if the board will accept this post.

Long story short.  Riding on dirt doesn''t mean anything.  Back to the original question and F4i is not a good first bike at all.  Your first bike should ideally be under 50-55hp, at or under 500cc, used, and cheap to insure.

Bascially the sporty bikes that are in that range fit that category are ninja 500, ninja 250 (the new one for 08 is friggin gorgeous), Suzuki GS500f,  Hyosung 250.  The bikes that don''t fit that category such as the F4i and other supersports do not fit that.   Some say the SV650 and Ninja 650 would be acceptable but I say no due to their V-twin low end grunt which is twitchy for new riders.

yes, that would be much more wiser choice. when you ride some time on 250r (08 or older) you''ll be able to switch to cbr600 easier and you''ll know yourself better , f4i or rr maybe

Agree its def the wiser choice, and yes ridn'' dirt bikes is not comparable to sport bikes, whats important here is someone w dirt or other experience has the "clutch" concept etc. vs someone with no experience, i think even if you know how to drive standard in a car your headed in the right direction.  my 2 cents

Long story short, those bikes will AMPLIFY your mistakes as a new rider 10000 fold.  As a new rider you will f''up, none of this, oh I will respect the throttle, I''ll just take it easy.  That''s doesn''t wash when a cage comes out of nowhere and you panic and grab a handfull of brake or you suddenly find you hit a pothole and you WACK your throttle.

Well I just was thinking over all Id rather have a CBR600rr and the fastest way to get to It would be to learn on that 250R for a season and then upgrade to the CBR600rr. I will be getting the 2008 250r only because my girl Is thinking about learning how to ride as well. ( She wants to see how I do first lol ). Then once I am ready to upgrade I can just give her the 250R and I can move on up to the 600RR.

I-f you do something l-ike that on a Ninja 250 you will have a better chance of recovery.  Do it on a supersport as a n-ew rider and you''ll be i-n trouble.  As an n-ew rider you will make mistakes, PERIOD.

Get a used bike,  It''s really up to you o-n that note, its the best thing, my first though was bought brand new, luckily I didn''t dump it (although came VERY close once w-hile parking) so I don''t feel pushy on that note, but it really is the best idea a-nd makes sense.  Plus you will save $$$ on insurance a-nd purchase costs of a used bike, even sell it sometimes at the price you bought it when you want to upgrade!!!

Best of luck with your decision....
