Illumiglo Gauges

Jamesbonz -> Illumiglo Gauges (6/9/2008 2:52:44 PM)

I recently won an auction for Illumiglo gauges.
The person that was selling was extremly helpful
after a stupid mistake I made (seller did not ship
to Canada). Long story short I should be recieving
them in 3 - 5 days.

These are the gauges http://tinyurl.com/6a88yj

Now before I get these gauges is there any problems
or pitfalls I should look out for?

Any suggestions what-so ever?

Pics to follow once package arrives and installation
is complete.

I need to post some pictures for a few members tomorrow (my day off).  I had some pictures of the precedure of installing gauges in my latest batch of camera shots.  I''ll go ahead and give you a write-up when I upload tomorrow.

Thats awesome, I really appriciate that.

The person I bought them from e-mailed me earlier tonight saying he got them shipped out, also warned me of not accedently popping off the needles, which is great advice, as I would never bloody think of looking out for that.

haha how funny.  I''m the guy who sold you the gauges on ebay.  Check my photo album for a couple pictures of my bike and the gauges installed on it.  Hope they look good on your ride.

Small world (does that even work in this instance?). Gauges came in today, damn fast shipping, unfortunatly I was out so another damn day of waiting. Plus side is, being recently unemployed I have all day to work on them! I just checked out your pictures too, damn nice ride. I''ll definitly be posting pictures VERY soon.

Again, thanks alot man.

For installation of the gauges - do as follows:

Take the gauge cluster out.  Its held in by a 8mm bolt under a rubber gromet at the bottom of the center of the cluster.  Then at the top left and right its just hinged on a bar that goes across the fairing.  You''ll notice the hooks at the top left and right in the pictures below.

Take the cluster apart so it exposes the gauges.

Take your new gauges and one-by-one work your way from right to left.  Pop the center of the needle (THE BLACK PART) off for better movement.  DO NOT POP THE NEEDLE.  What I did was removed the adhesive backing first, ripped it into two or more pieces and then put them back on.  I did this so you can slide the gauge face on without it sticking.  Then once its in place, lift one corner of the face and with pilars rip that section out.  I did two sections with the small gauges and four with the big ones.

Once you''ve got all the faces on and the backings removed so its set, run all the wires out the back through the data port hole.  Then reattach the cluster face and secure.

Yea that''s the same way I did it too....except my damn needles popped off completely...  which is causing all sorts of problems.  Good write up though, and a really easy job to do.  You shouldn''t have any problems with it.

anyone have any pictures of these at night? Ive been thinking of getting them myself

ajlong -> RE: Illumiglo Gauges (6/15/2008 11:44:48 AM)

Here''s a link to my gallery with them at night:

I didn''t realize there was a bulb burnt out for the ODO & temp needle when I had them appart, they were all working when I took them appart? So there is the one bulb not lit up (which I have fixed), but it''ll give you a good idea.

Jamesbonz -> RE: Illumiglo Gauges (8/4/2008 6:20:57 PM)

Today a friend took some pictures of my bike with his new camera which cost more than than the bike (not really).

When looking at them I noticed He took a damn good picture of the guages which got me thinking. "I never posted awesome pictures of my guages!"
What a dick move right? Well here they are!

See, I WOULD post it right on the forum but the damn picture is massive, and that would suck for anyone with less than 1mbps.

**BONUS**
Just an awesome picture. You can even see the damage from the previous owner hitting a guardrail.

EDIT: Actually after thinking about it, what would be the best way to repair that (the rash on the upperfairing). I have the paint matched and in a spray can, and tips?
