How much money does it cost to stretch a bike?(05 cbr600rr) What are the benfits of doing this and what are the negatives. What is involved with doing it and can you do it urself..... Basically i would like someone to tell me all about it.

Just adding a longer swing arm can run between $350 and $1500 depending on how long you want it and who is doing the stretching. Most of the guys that do the work want your swing arm in exchange or the price goes up. Benefits include high speed stability and being able to launch incredibly. Negative side would be a huge, and I mean huge, hit in maneuverability. A 4" stretch would probably render your 600RR the flickability of a stock Busa. The longer the stretch the worse the handling. Another cost involved would be a longer chain -- a 4" extended arm would take 8" extra chain and chain ain't cheap.

Superbike Mike makes bolt on extensions that you can run at the dragstrip but take off for twisties and track days. Best of both worlds. His stuff is reasonable and is used by some of the top pro-stock racers.

J-man, I had my name (chainstretcher) thrust upon me by a bunch of Busa guys after I killed my 2nd chain in 2 mos. General V could be "swingarm stretcher" if he goes loooooong enough.

Crappy stock chains and boooooost. When I took the 2nd one off you could hold it out straight D.I.D. after that and no problems. I was happy to see D.I.D. on the CBR as a stock chain.
