    It all depends on how mature the "new" rider is.  I started on a 600 and I turned out fine, years ago.

    The key is respect i started on a 954 so a 600 seems fine but its all about the rider.

    I''ve been doing this for faaaar to long....44 years now.
    It''s all about maturity - the careful guy will ask the question - "should I..." ?
    For him, fine, anything short of a Turbo Busa- he''ll find the limits carefully over time
    The Moron will buy the 600, because he wants to look cool, and go fast, with no skill to back it.
    For him, a 250''s too big. Even a Vespa''s a risk, to himself and others.
    I think everyone should start on dirt bikes, and graduate to the road - gives you much more of an idea what''s going on under you. I didn''t and I paid for it......
    An older 600 - maybe - not a newer version - they''ve killed too many newbies.
