I bought the bike and the old owner ws using distilled water in the radator but the bike seems to be running to hot even on the highways (no traffic) its running around 225 degrees and i think thats to hot would it help to replace the water with colent.

well I wouldn''t recommend ever using just water.  Spray out the radiator and clean all the mud and bugs out of it.  The thermostat woud be the next place to check.  Replace it.  Otherwise, get it flushed and c if that helps.

also check and/or replace the radiator cap too.

You weren''t specific about the bike..but on my 03 600rr the previous owner had dropped it on the left side and crushed the extension pipe to the radiator inlet to just about nothing...thus restricting flow and causeing the bike to heat up excessively.  Check that too.
