I picked up a NOS V&H Supersport Exhaust on Ebay for under $300. I was trying to keep my restoration costs down so I went for the "budget" system.

SInce I had the radiator drained already, I loosened up the bolts and hoses to pull it forward (as well as the oil cooler). Then I had clear access to the radiator. The install went smoothly (everything lined up) and I used some copper exhaust goop in the tube in addition to the good copper gaskets. The center stand was already removed from my bike so I didn''t have to bother with that. The previous owner kept in the heavy bolts for the centerstand, so I removed them and put a aluminum bolt on the right side to hold the tube bracket.

IMO, technology in exhausts have come a long way since the 90''s. The Yosh that was on there before was rusted to $hit and this one will probably rust out too. I wont spend the money to have it ceramic coated. My new bikes have stainless tubes and are much better. The can itself is of a small diameter design that is somewhat dated because the sound is similar to a punk 16 year old''s Honda Civic. It''s moderately loud also. Modern oval cans to a better job of keeping the sound mellow.

I''m still pretty happy with it since I was able to get is cheap and that I was able to find one in the 1st place. It looks nice, the welds were decent, and it''s light. I may repack it down the road with silent sport packing to change the sound.

The V&H stuff is pretty good.  I''ve had their SSR system on my bike for over 10 years and the plating is holding up well.  This was one of the first Oval mufflers on the market.  I got it because it was qieter than the conventional supersport systems that were common in that era.
