sounds like a cow, the bike had just been turned off and cooling down.

maybe a hose that had compresed was opening back up????? anybody?

Check your water circulation - I had a waterpump go bad on me once (not on a 1000F) and the noises from the engine were very strange.
Could MAYBE also be a blocked crankcase vent into the carbs...??
Apart from the noise, any symptoms ?

symptoms are ,just running a bit hot in the 100 degree weather , fan kicks on when temp.gauge gets close to red.
