Thinking of Buying.

22Chet -> Thinking of Buying. (6/12/2008 8:36:07 PM)

Im thinking of buying a 900RR. It has some flaws and i was wondering what people who know the bikes more than i do thought of them. 2002 Honda CBR 900RR.The upper cowl, mount, both side cowls, left mirror, both bars, both levers, stator cover, stator, crankcase, flywheel bolt, left drivers peg/bracket/shifter, left passenger peg, tail-cowl, left turns, and right front turn are damaged.Tires have good tread.This unit has 3401 miles. I might have a chance to get a hell of a deal on it, how much would it cost to fix the parts that need it to make the bike safely functionable. Also what would you pay for a bike that had this much damage, remember that i dont want to make it perfect condition ?

Well you can get a full fairing set off of ebay for about $600 shipped...then whatever else you have to put into it. So you''re probably looking into putting about a grand into it. I''d say 2500-3000

fairings arent real important. I may just take them off and run it without them for awhile! Im worried about the stator and crankcase...

Man, the deal would have to be a true steal for me to buy that.  You never know what problems it really have.  It could be cosmetic only, or it could be more.  It all depends on what you want.  If you want a project bike, it could be right for you.  If you want something nice, to ride right away, you may want to keep looking.

how trashed is the bike first off i bought one wrecked as a project and finished it and now i want another project,did the street eat through the covers or is it just rash was the frame messed up how about the forks i would have a mech look at it firstt make sure its straight if it is then u are goin to have fun hope u have some money to blow every time i took something off it was a nother hundred bucks, but the dude at the honda dealership offered me 7 grand for it the other day so i must have done a good job it was fun though another thing u might want to look at the time frame projects are for the snowy month this is riding time

Personally doesnt look like more than a 1500$ job at the most, maybe less with using ebay and doing the work yourself

photos made me cry.....

doogstar -> RE: Thinking of Buying. (6/14/2008 6:46:34 PM)

On second thought.  Could only be cosmetic.  Stator area would raise concerns though.

cbrRick954 -> RE: Thinking of Buying. (6/14/2008 7:15:13 PM)

thats my bike, only without all the ugly all over it.

when you have it running and looking right, its a hell of a bike, as anyone here will tell you.

if you have the money to fix it, and are getting a really really good deal on it. buy it.

nikos -> RE: Thinking of Buying. (6/15/2008 8:08:11 PM)

I''d say maybe a 500 to get it running again.  I would pay close attention to the frame, clip-ons, forks, and swingarm for damage, as any of them will mess with the handling.

My concerns:
Can you bolt a stator cover back on?  You may have to be inventive to get that to seal back up...
How much dirt n shit got in there?

Rhu5 -> RE: Thinking of Buying. (6/16/2008 6:43:25 AM)

If it runs and you can get a steal of a deal......get it and make it a streetfighter, especially if fairings aren''t that important [sm=smiley2.gif]!
