it's the fiberglass filler... I've never tried it before but I had heard it stuck better to plastic than the regular... it's green and then when mixed with the red filler it looks like a giant turd!!! but anyway, I found it was easier to work with because of the long strands of fiberglass in it... it didn't tend to run or sag like regular bondo so I built up the massive layer pretty fast... as opposed to having to wait for a lower layer to harden with regular bondo.

looks good . i did the same thing to make my own undertail last season , turned out real nice

lol u got the basic idea it will come out good just gonna take extra time , i made a undertail for my bike last year basically the same way , looks like you used long strand fiberglass filler it is a pain in the ass , also u will prolly notice when u sand it u will have big pot holes , next time or even after u sand that down try short stand or fiberglass filler it is just like bondo all the fiber glass is ground up , still very strong and alot easier to work with

actually here's the pics from when i sanded it on sunday... I used regular bondo as a filler for any holes...

Ok guys... primered, waxed and laid up today... tomorrow is popping and a final coat of resin to adhere it to the plastic mold... and maybe some sanding too... bondo resin that i used hardened a lot faster than I expected, and left a lot of runs on the surface (no vacuuming bagging, I don't have the gear) so tomorrow I'll probably hit the resin pools with some 120 grit and clearcoat over the whole thing to give it a nice finish... here are some pics...

ok guys, she's all done... the c/f itself weighs all of about 2 or 3 ounces... I popped it off the bondo mold and re resined it to the plastic seat from the passenger seat that I bought... the whole thing probably weights all of 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound... here are some pics of the finished product...

Old: you can buy c/f sheet in rolls (bulk) or I think you can just get some smaller sheets on ebay... sites like www.fiberglast.com or mcmastercarr.com will sell it to you but c/f ain't cheap right now... everyone knows there is a world wide industry shortage of the stuff... But anyway, after that you just need a mold, and some polyvinyl resin (also available at fiberglast.com) to harden up the sheets... the cowl is 3 layers of 3k twill carbon... it's a pretty thin sheet that has a special weave that goes around corners really well, it also doesn't soak up a ton of resin so it's pretty light... I just popped it off the mold and then resin'd it to the plastic shell from a spare passenger seat that I bought.
