hi and firstly i would like to say hi to everyone,
my names chris and im from scotland-its kind of wet here just now[:@]lol

i am looking at buying a cbr400rr nc23 and wondered if anyone could advise whether this would be a good starter bike and what the performance is like etc?

The US and Canada don''t get the 400cc models, but they are good little bikes.  I think it would make a great starter bike.

For the size, they have good power (i''m betting maybe close to 60hp?), which doesn''t sound like much, but the 400RR is pretty light.

if you don''t mind converting your speedometer to MILES per hour, it looks like you can get up to 140mph (well over the electronically limited 180kph - like 180kph isn''t fast enough for 99% of your riding).

Welcome to the site! I wish the US had the 400rr model [>:]. Might actually save some dumb person''s a$$. To me it sounds like a good buying decision. Keep a level head and you''ll be ok. On two wheels you can get yourself into trouble even with a 125r if you''re not thinking right.

I road an FZR 400 (Yami) back in the day. I loved it. I think a 400 is the PERFECT bike for a beginner. I really wish they had them over here in the USA.

Yeah i started on a 600 and it only took one mistake for me to go down and break my ankle. Definately got to respect the bike no matter the size. Take it easy and always learn

I might recommend something a little bigger.  Only reason I''d say that is because most everyone does after owning a smaller bike for a while.  Why not just bypass the 400 and get a 6 or liter bike instead?  I know there''s a big power difference but just relax into it and don''t ride too fast if you aren''t comfortable with it just yet.  Just my two cents.  I know I wasted time and $$$ buying a 600, then 750 and finally a 1000 bike.  Best of luck either way and don''t get me wrong - I''m sure it will be a real nice bike that you''ll really like but want to upgrade after a year of riding.
