I test rode a couple Ducati''s a week ago including the 848 and have got to agree with everyone else herethe 954 is simply one of the best sportbikes ever builtlight weight (what do the new ones weigh now???), comfortable, great power to weight ratio, solid brakes and outstanding handling. I dont care what the manufacturers do to try and reinvent the wheel THEY ARE WASTING THEIR TIMEthe 954 is perfection. If I ever kill my 954 Ill rebuild too or buy another.

Wow either you guys are too young looking or have crappy dealers. I can walk into any dealer around here, drop my license on their desk and get a test ride on anything i want.

Some other things I love about the 5-Four: Trunk space, cosmetically- the front end is unmistakable, the swingarm is gorgeous (I know, it''s just a swingarm) and it was only made two years (the good: is becoming rare and I''m not like everybody else [don''t need the so called latest and greatest]...the bad: a lot of people missed out on a great sportsbike.

How in the world did you demo that quartet (Busa, ZX14 & 10 and the 1KRR)?!?!?!? IN A DAY????

I agree completly.  The 954 is THE ONLY sport bike worth owning.  Iv ridden alot of bikes and NONE compare...   I used to ride a 07'' zx6r and the 954 out does the zx6r in every aspect- period...

I have not been able to test ride a 1k rr yet, but I was at the dealer yesterday, and I sat on one,and I was schocked at how light it felt. All the reviews for say that its the most impressive 1k ever built. I think the styling is not as classic as the 54. But I think honda is continuing to pump out the best machines on the road period. I think its weird to be talking down on the new 1k because, its an amazing machine. After I sat on it I was courious, it felt lighter, but I got on the internet to compare specs, on the 54 there was a claimed 370 and the 1k brocure in the dealership said the 08 was 430. so the question is did honda get more honest with the claims on the dry weight or is the 54 really that much lighter?

The 954 really that lighter. The 08 1k rr has a lower center of gravity and feels nimble between the knees, but is actually a heavier bike.  The engine is set alot lower in the chassis on the 1k, thus it feels lighter, not to mention the plastic gas tank.  I have been on the 08 1k and its still an impressive machine, but Id like to race one in the twistys and see if it can keep up  :)
