So, I am plauged with bad luck forever i guess. truck problems for three weeks straight and i get that straighted out and now my bike takes a shit. heres what happened

I am going to warm up the bike and change the oil. so i start it, starts fine, runs normal, sounds good, after a few seconds i see white smoke from the battery area. F*ck. the plugs that connnect the R/R and Stator are completely fried. and when i say completely i mean FUBAR(f*ck up beyond all repair).

It was a brand new R/R. I dont know how old the Stator is but i took it out and it looks fine, no broken wires, nothing worn, looks just like it should. All fuses are good. Battery is fine, constant 12.9ish volts. Lights all worked when it was running, i have not done any major mods recently. It was charging just fine last time i rode it. Nothing else is burnt at all.

i dont really have a choice, i have to buy a new stator and new R/R because their wires were both fried so badly, but i was just wandering if anyone has experienced the same thing before? or could point out something that might have caused this? Everything seemed to be perfect and then i start it and toast.

Thanks everyone,
Hcstreetriding

sorry to hear about the problems man. i didnt have the same exact problem but did have a similar situation. i started mine one day and started riding then it cut off. wouldnt start up anymore. took it to the shop and they said the fuel pump relay shorted out. when they showed it to me, the relay was halfway melted but nothing else was wrong at all. never had anymore troubles with it. sometimes crazy shit just happens. good luck, hope u dont run into that problem again.

Thanks man, i dont know if a bad relay would do that but i will check them all tomorrow and make sure they are good anyway. I checked the wires but didnt think to pull the relays and check them.

well, when looked over everything besides the already jacked up stator plug i thought everything was ok but after a second look the other plug coming from the R/r was also fried, making my bad situation worse, i now have to get a whole new main harness(after selling my spare harness, damn me) and from this i can now tell that the r/r was likely the cause of this whole snafu.  I swear if karma is real then i must be gettin close to winning the mega lotto or something because I do nothing but good to everyone and everything and all i get is jacked around. I going nuts.

anyone have a spare main harness for sale??

Damn, that sucks.  Now you have me feeling bad about it.  Your harness works great too, lol.  Well, you know what was wrong with mine, and I think it can be fixed.  You want it?  Make me an offer.  Remember, you scratched my back, now I''ll scratch yours.

haha no dont feel bad, theres no way that i(or anyone else) could have seen this coming, it was a brand new r/r, just for some reason it was faulty. Im going to contact the salvage shop here tmr see if they dont have another harness in stock( i really want to get this fixed tomorrow because i have a BEAUTIFUL girl that has been dieing for a ride for two weeks now and friday was supposed to be the day, and i know every other girl ive taken for a ride has always returned the favor so i dont want to miss out haha..bummer lol)  but if they dont have one is stock then i will be hitting you up for that harness. Im pretty sure from what you said that i can fix it, and if nothing else i can cut out the parts that i need and make it work, i have unfortunatly become way too familiar with how the wiring of theses bikes works. I appreciate it, good lookin out man!

and i just have to say, you know the funny thing about my back dogstar? its located on my cock, haha greatest line from Superbad, if you havent seen it, then rent it.

Rent Superbad???? F that buy it, one of those very few movies that needs to be in your collection! Good luck with the harness tho, just a quick bit of advice dont just rip the old one out, unplug the old one then plug the new one in until you get to the last plug. Yeah it may look as if the plugs will only go one place but routing them right is also a big thing, dont want to have to replace another because of another burnt harness.

Haha yes superbad is one of those movies that everyone needs in thier collection!

Thanks for the advice on the wiring harness, I never thought of it that way, but for someone who had never done a main harness that would be very helpful, however, I could remove and replace the harness with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back lol ok so thats a little far fetched, but when i first got the bike i had a bad ECU and replaced everything under  the sun before the ECU so i removed and put back the main harness about three times a week for four weeks straight, so unfortunatly i have a fairly good understanding of how the wiring systems work on this particualr bike.

Dogstar.... Since im broke im going to make a low offer. $50 Shipped?

How about $40 shipped?  send payment to moedoog12@aol.com, whenever youre ready.  I will mark the bad wire, and box it up today.  I can have it shipped in the morning.
