instaling -1 in the front

Gville George -> instaling -1 in the front (6/21/2008 12:59:06 PM)

I got a new 15 tooth vortex sprocket and I am going to install it tomorrow while he puts on on his GSX-R 750,

is there anything special i should know about? I am pretty mechanically inclined but don''t have much experience with bikes.

do i just need to loosen the back wheel, and take of the plastic cover over the sprocket? I am pretty sure i will need to move the rod that connects the shift lever to the transmission, is just taking the shifter lever off and swinging it out of the way the easiest way to do that?

do i need to grease the splines where the sprocket goes on the drive shaft?

does any one know the torque specs for the front sprocket and the back axle?

the right way to do it is replace both sprockets and the chain as a set. If not you will get premature wear or worse.

+1

Your speed will also be off (considerably) and I would suggest a speedohealer.

Nothing special about it, you don''t need to remove the shift lever. Just take the plastic cover off and replace. Easy. If you have trouble theres a good writeup somewhere...I did mine not too long ago and was a quick job

It''s pretty straight forward.
Lefty loosey, righty tighty.

Oh! before I forget, it''ll be a lot easier with an air gun.

i seem to remember the torque value at 45 lbs
