MoeMan -> CBR 929 Whine After Engine Stopped (6/22/2008 1:50:24 PM)
|
Howdy All... wondering if anyone has some thoughts on something I''ve noticed with my 2001 929 lately. When I turn off the engine, there is a very high pitch whine that sounds like it''s coming from the underneath the fuel tank. It stopped after several minutes. I haven''t really begun a diagnosis to figure out what it is. I''m not sure what components there are under the tank that would create a whine - fuel injectors? could that mean a bad black box? I have to confess to being pretty lazy over this past winter. I used to pull the battery and trickle charge it throughout the winter. This time I just left it in and jumped the bike to get it going. It ran fine, but either I didn''t ride long enough or the battery is toast because I had to push start it every time I turned off the engine. When I got the bike back home, I went to pull the battery to give it a good charge (last attempt to avoid dishing out the $$ for a new one). This is when I noticed the whine. But I also found that the battery was very hot - almost uncomfortably hot to the touch. I don''t really think that a battery should heat up that much, even considering the hot day and the heat pouring off the engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
