I think it looks pretty good on our color scheme.  It looks good on most any bike, it just offsets ours better I think.  I''ll start the polishing part this weekend, but yeah it''s every bit of a pain in the a$$.  There are some tricks to make things easier.  First thing is when you tape up the inner part of your rims, it doesn''t have to be perfect.  After you tape them up good, take a razor blade and go around the raised lip of the rim and peel off the excess tape.  I wish I would have thought of that on the first rim.  I spent so long taping the first tire...what a waste.

Get some pics up when you can.

Looks good Wild. Did you do them on or off the bike?

I left them on the bike.  Definately easier I think, if I would have removed them.

what''d you use to strip ''em?  I''ve heard oven cleaner works best (this was after I used multiple hours and elbow grease stripping the ones on my Ducati)

I would guess off is a bit easier. I did a friends wheels and frame last year along with some other work, man its miserable. I dont think i would ever want to do it again  It should look sweet when your done though.

So did you have to tape off the middle spokes and center part of the wheel or not?  I was told since that is cast aluminum it''s real hard to get that paint off, which would explain why most people just do the rim lips or whatever they are referred to as.  I plan to do this real soon on my bike but i wanted to find out if it''s really necessary to tape off the middle rims at all?  Also, did you get the whole rim lip polished or just the main lip minus the raised center part of it.

Airplane remover?!  Like, it would remove all traces of airplanes from my wheels?  Seriously though, I''ve done polishing before with just abrasives, and I have no desire to do that again...so really, what the hell is airplane remover?

Its called Airplane Paint Stripper, I polished my wheels before i had them chromed and it sucked to keep them clean. Takes a few hours to sand but youll be pleased with the results.

I like that wildcard, I was thinking about painting my rims silver/grey to match the paint in our color scheme but after seeing yours i might go the polishing route too. Not sure yet, but it looks good so far, have fun with the polishing.

I used Klean Strip Stripper.  It comes in a bronze colored can and you pour it into a bowl.  It''''s thick like honey and you paint it on with an acid brush.  I taped the area in the center of the rim, but not up the spokes or anything like that.  If I were using the Aircraft Stripper that''''s a spray I would reccomend taping everything up.  If you look at mine there is about a 1" area that is not stripped on my wheels.  I haven''''t started the polishing part yet, and yes the process was a pain in the a$$.  I had to apply the stripper wait 15 minutes or so then I used a #3 steel wool to remove the paint that bubbled up.  After some scrubbing with soap, water, and the #3 pad, I would reapply the stripper to those stubborn parts and do the process again.  After I did that 2-3 times depending on how lazy I was, I would then use the #3 pad and a lot of elbow grease on the remaining areas.  You can see in the picture below what it looked like after the stripper and about half way done with the scrubbing from the steel wool.  You can see how I left the center alone.
