hey fellas i need some help with tightening my chain up..i''ve got an 08 RR..is it something i can do myself or does it need to be super exact and better left to some 1 w/ experince? if its not way complex im fairly mechanicly inclined but i really dont want to **** up the chain or make the tires wear fast..any help would be greatly appreciated maybe a step by step? thanks in advance fellas

You need to be fully qualified to do such a big job like that....

unless you''''ve mastered the art of tying your own shoe lace.... then you should be ok

you''''ll see adjustment lines on the swing arm.... Just make sure the marks on the swing arm and the arrow''''s on the wheel mount thingy''''s match on both side''''s. you dont wanna be running your wheel at a slight angle. Also make sure to tighten up the wheel again

just dont over do it haha. if you have a torque bar that would help but i''''m not sure what torque setting they need to be at. When you''''ve dont it once you''''ll be able to do it a thousand times.

Also remember you need to leave 1inch to a 1.1/2inch play in the chain otherwise it''ll end up not having enough slack and wrapping round your ankle

....not to put you off or anything but maybe read the manual. other than that it''s simple to do

87 lb. ft on the main axle nut.

and just snug up the other 4 adjusting nuts.

if you got a owners manual its right in the book... tells you everything.

For the record, you do not have to know how to tie your shoes to tighten a chain. They still make velcro shoes in big people sizes!!!!!

1 to 1.5 inches of chain slack... is recommended. Make sure its totally straight, and I would recommend putting some of the blue loctite (non-permanent) stuff on the tensioner bolts to prevent it from slipping as much as possible. A rear stand also makes this task about 1 billion times easier.

Another little trick I found when doing this is work on the chain side first, as the weight of the chain will tend to pull that side in more when the tensioner''s are loose. Bring out the chain side until its slightly looser then it should be, and then go and bring the brake side out so that it is even. It will take you a few tries until you get it right.
