Hey guys. Im stuart. Im looking at buying an 2005 CBR600rr for my first bike. I have riden dirt bikes before so i kinda have an idea of what im doing. First thing, do you think it is a good starting bike. From what i have heard, it really is. Second, the gentleman i am looking at buying this bike from, lives in the UK. does anyone have any suggestions for buying a bike over seas? cause i live in the USA. Anyone with expirence with that? He said he will cover the Shipping and handleing of the bike. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks all!

Stuart, welcome to the forum... do some research and buy locally. This will save you many headaches. As for being a good first bike...it can be done but will not be easy and most likely you will have it laid down within the first year(this is not doubting your skills just statistics). Motorcycles ARE a whole new thing to learn and you can''t use "I''ve ridden dirtbikes" as justification to think you know what you''re doing. That kind of thinking will have you on the pavement faster then you can twist the throttle. Don''t take offense to this...but it sounds like you might need a little more time to mature before riding these machines that turn deadly in the wrong hands.

Thought it was a troll ... so forgive if I seemed a bit unkind. Never, ever, ever buy a bike from someone overseas ... even if they say it''s already here in the states. Biggest and longest running scam I can think of. I still have my reservations about this post ...

A couple of things you should be aware of when buying a bike: 1) If it''s too good to be true, it probably is. 2) Don''t hand over money until you see the merchandise. And anything else common sense tells you. Good luck on your search.

There are too many scams going on out there for me to trust my money with just anyone. Buying local would definately be a smarter move. Also, I ride an 06 1000RR, but I am not about to think that I know how to ride a dirtbike. They are two different machines. Please be careful and, if you can, thake the MSF course.

ok well i didnt know i was gonna get so much criticism about my post. First when i said i have riden dirt bikes, i wasn''t saying that becuase i know how to ride a dirt bike, i can ride a motorcycle. I was just saying i have a sort of idea. Second, i am already enrolled in the MSF safety course for the end of july. As for being mature. Dont judge people by what they say. Especially if it is about me haveing an IDEA of what im doing. Its better then having no expirence at all. Anyways away from that, thanks for all the responses. The guy said he will ship the bike, give confermation that he sent it, i send half the money, and when i get it, i send the other half. This isnt what i was looking for. I dont wanna send any money until i get the bike. Doesn''t that sound resonable? The reason i''m not looking toward buying local, is because i have been monitoring the selling of bikes around here, and all thats being sold are things 1) out of my price range or 2) a 250cc or something i will get bored on. Nothing in my range yet. But im still looking. Also in your opinion is a 05'' CBR60rr with 8401 miles "too good to be true"?

Is it in perfect condition or what? If a guy in the UK is gonna accept $4k US dollars for a bike like that, and ship it over here, he''s only getting like 2500 Euro for that. Not sure what kind of dream honeymoon he''s talking about. Even if he is in a rush to sell it he''d be better off pawning it off there and avoid the hassle I say definite scam
