I just picked up my first bike, a 99 F4, I got a really good deal on it because the carbs needed a good cleaning so I picked up a few long screwdrivers and carb cleaner today and dove in. Getting the carbs off was no problemo, maybe 40 minutes and they were off. So I''m taking the float caps or whatever you want to call em off, take the floats out and the jets have slight marks in them just like a screwdriver would leave if they were torqued too tight, they were on there pretty good btw. The marks just look like some of the material on the edge of the jet(the edge of the slot) has gouged a little, not a lot but enough to get me to ask about it. If it''s best, where might I find new jets? Not a jet kit, remember, this is my first bike. No need for that. I just want honda replacements. Thanks

If the damage is just on the outside and hole looks clear, no need to replace them. They only need to be lightly snug in there, I''''ve seen alot of damaged jets from people going crazy with the torque. Also, don''t forget the pilot jets, they clog easily. With the pilot jets out, if you stick the long extension of your carb cleaner in there and squirt, you should get a discharge right in front of the butterflies.
