I''m probably buying my buddy''s 96 900rr. It has the typical jumping out of 2nd problem. I''m mechanically "inclined" but not mechanically experienced. The bike comes with a spare tranny with less milage than the bike (i think 14k). Anyway, i’ve looked for info on whats involved with pulling the tranny, cant find it really. I hear that I can do it without pulling the motor. True? I don’t have the manual in front of me right now, so just looking for a little help.
My plan is to do the swap and rebuild the original and keep it on hand. Thanks!

As far as I know, you have to split the engine case to get to the transmission. So, you have to pull the engine out of the bike.  I know the newer cbr 1000RR''s utilize a transmission that can be removed from the side of the engine, but I don''t think they started that until 04.
