Rear Tire Size

NinetySeven900RR -> Rear Tire Size (6/24/2008 11:00:49 AM)

Question? Right now I have a set of aftermarket rims on my RR. I have a 190/50/17 on the rear obviously ... How do I find out if I can put a bigger tire on the rim? Let me know asap. Thanks guys. Appreciated.

What is the size of the rims? Is there any specific reason you want to install a bigger tires? Dragging?

The rims I have on are the Chicane wheels by Performance Wheels. They are 17 x 3.5. I like the look of the wider tire in the back. The guy I bought the bike off of used to he says ride a 200 on the back with 6" extension. Like I said I have a 190/50/17 on there right now ... If I can''t go 200 then I''ll stick with the 190 ... Thanks.

The rim can hold the 200 tire. However the 200 will hold up the bike from moving or leaning freely. Just my 2 cents.

it will make it a straight line queen.

...a straight drag queen lol  not many of those around  [;)]

So you guys think I should just stay with a 190 then? and if I was to stretch the bike a 200? Thanks guys I really appreciate it.

It depends what you going to do with the bike. I would not waste such a beast and stretch or drag her; so a 200 is out of topic. Even a 190 also won''t be so nice, the best for her will be the stock size 180. Well, thats me! [;)]

Don''t get the feeling that the bigger is the better! Its not applicable for all things! haha.

At least you are honest and admit you are more into looks than improving the bike''s performance.

Ghusar -> RE: Rear Tire Size (6/27/2008 12:02:32 AM)

you can fit a 200 on the back stock but why

I have 190 and it handles like poo with it on

If someone wants to go bigger on the rear tire, why not a 220?  or a 230? or a 300?

Get one so thick that the entire bike stands upright without the kickstand.

Makes sense to me

I just bought a Pirelli Diablo Rosso 180 and it looks skinny compared to my old dunlop 180. Yeah i love the twisties and leaning hard but my buddy just bought a CBR 1000 and he has a 190. I was thinking about upgrading next time but it sounds like its a down grade in performance if i go to 190... if so, why does the 1000 have a 190 rear tire? ..... 200 looks pretty though!!!?!?!?!   The 1000 has a 190 rear tire because the bike was designed to have a 190 rear tire.

Not because a 190 is wider and looks cooler, but because the 1000 needs one and has a 190 designed for it.

The 900rr was designed to have a 180 size tire.

My bike can handle the extra inertia so it should not be an issue of speed. It''ll be ight.
