guy says to me the other day while talking about cbr 954''s and 1000''s

"neither one of them would make a good track bike"

how do i respond to that?

i think he''s nuts personally,  600''s are nimble, but so is my bike,  they cant out corner me....am i nuts?

o and for a real answer. you dont respond with words. anyone can talk, if you want to make a point take him out to some twisties or a track and show em whos got balls and whos got a big mouth. when i got my first girlfriend i realized that trying to talk sense into people is impossible.

While i do understand the point this guy is trying to make, saying they are not good trake bikes is just wrong. The 600''s are generally a fair amount lighter and easier to flick around, thus making going fast on a track easier. The 54 is plenty light tho, the 1000''s (other then the 08) are definatly heavier, and you have to have a more sensitive wrist in the corners. But to say they arent good track bikes i would disagree.

Sounds like another person who just doesn''t qualify as "friend"

kick him to the curb and move on

You guys are funny sometimes, but fyi if you look at most times at a track between a 1000 and a 600 there is usually less than a second apart from them so lets get back to the rider thats what makes a difference, but to let you know I tack my 954 and stomp 600''s and by better riders get stomped by 600s but yes a 954 in a straight line will beat a 600, passed that and your are all rider but im sure youll hash it out

Besides the crash, how did you perform compared to that 600?

Not really.  He said he was going to dust him and have the convo later.  Hes ok, and  the bike is fixable, so we can talk about it.  I wonder if he slipped tryingto get in that 600.  Rick, we love you bro, but who was winning??????

A 600 is less work to go fast on.  That is the point....they are lighter, the resiprocating mass is less and yes, easier to flip side to side and they are more forgiving on the throttle.  Simple as that.  As said though, I can stomp on most of the stuff at the track but the top 6-7 "expert" class racers on 600s can get well under my times at the track.   Their balls are much larger than mine when it comes to braking into the corners.  It comes down to riders......I like taking the 1000 because I can be lazy and ride in one gear around almost all of the track except for the straight and focus on actually RIDING instead of fussing with gear selection.
The 954 would be a fine track bike but it too can be whipped by a good rider on a 600.  If you''re slow..well, you''re slow no matter what you''re on.
