crx2cbr -> F2 FORK SEAL PROBLEMS (6/25/2008 5:23:30 PM)

OK GUYS SO MY LEFT FORK SEALS IS LEAKING, I JUST ORDERED NEW SEALS TODAY, AND I PLAN ON DOING THEM MYSLEF, AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS A WRITE UP WITH PICTURES FOR RE-PLACING F2 FORK SEALS, AND ALSO I HEARD YOU CAN USE TRANNY FLUID INSTEAD OF FORK OIL, IS THIS POSSIBLE AND WILL IT HURT THE FORKS OR SEALS, AND WHAT KIND DO YOU USE IF SO?

             THANKS

Well, do a search in the F2 forum here, I really don''t feel like revisiting everything.  I''ve gone through it quite extensively with others who had trouble.  Read through that junk, turn off your caps lock, and ask any questions.

I just replaced mine.....twice :-)

Remember to wet sand any dings and rust spots off before installing the new seals, or they will be damaged.
As small as they were on mine, the little imperfections tore my new seals apart, and made them leak again...even on the good side [:)]

Whatch this video...it helped me:

ok cool, but also i heard some people have used tranny fluid instead of fork oil, is this true? can you really do that?

It is true but it doesn''t work for everything.  I can''t remember exactly, but I think you can only use ATF to replace 10w fork oil, not 5w.  And really you aren''t going to save much by going with ATF instead of the fork oil, I''d just buy the fork oil and do it right the first time.
