I bought my 05 F4i used and I have cleaned it up pretty well in the past 4-or-so weeks.  But I can''t seem to get the wheels to gleam.  Are they black matte finished or otherwise not meant to shine?  I have scrubbed and scrubbed with a sponge and Meguirs Gold Class soap, but nothing more abrasive until I get some input from the forum.  The spokes seem dull due to the textured finish, but the rim face looks pretty smooth...just bland!

they are sort of a flake paint finish....they are not gloss, but they have a shimmer to them....you will never get them to "shine"...that''s just they way they were painted....if you want to get them shiney, you''ll have to either paint them or have them PC''d...i had mine done gloss black so mine would shine, great investment, makes a TON of difference.....

What to use is a product from Northwoods. Called Limon Lite. It will add alittle extra shine to the dull look. But be very carefull not to get on your tires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just put on chrome rims. Shine like a baby''s but. Pricey (over $600) but realy make the bike stand out. How much they get you for powder coat?

I paid 30 bucks each tire for my powder coated rims blue and they look awesome.  had to take the tire off myself.

It is a flat Powder Coat.  They are not at all meant to shine.  You can make them shine beautifully for about $15 dollars by stripping the powder coat down to the aluminum and polishing the aluminum.  It is a little bit of work but it is SOOOOOOO worth it.  I did just my lips and I think they are SEXY.  All you need is some Aircraft Stripper and a little elbow grease.

Was about to suggest the same thing.  It''s hard to get the spokes and center completely stripped though.
