Hey guys, went down on my bike on wednesday night.  low-sided on my right side.  When I got the bike up it was leaking a little bit of oil.  It now seems to be fine when I run it, and the oil level looks ok.

but the leak started at the bottom of the beer bottle sized cover.  in the attached picture (not my bike) you can see that this person had a scratch there as well.  its the circle to the right of the transmission case.

First off, what is this cover for?  second, is it common for this to come loose and leak oil after sliding on its side?  Think it''''s safe to ride now?

Its the timing cover.

Inside, you can see the end of the crankshaft, and the sprocket with the cam chain.  The Ignition pickup is also in there.
