what is the best oil to use?

syko9 -> what is the best oil to use? (2/8/2006 2:53:10 PM)

Just wondering what kind of motor oil you guys use on your bike. I use amsoil 10w-40 I believe it is. I have to look at the container again. It is a full synthetic oil. I heard that the full synthetic oil was not always the best oil to use cause the clutch clould slip. So I just want to hear about the oil you guys use and what do you recomend.

Mobil 1 MX4T .. this stuff is AWESOME! best oil i have ever used.. and the only oil i use for spo65rt bikes and my honda Aquatrax TURBO [:D]
with our machines using high rpm most of the time, we need oils that can handle that kind of punishment and not breakdown.

Motul 5100.

This is a topic that can and will go on forever. Don't you remember the topic about Octane Lakota in the "other" forum? Same principle.

Sure do Calkidd, but figured I list what I use so someone would know it won't blow thier bike up and since I get it at Wally World i get coupons for extra HP too [;)]

Sorry if this is a repeat post. My mechanic just told me that a full synthetic oil was not the best. And if i go from a full synthetic back to regular will that mess up the engine?

Lakota -> RE: what is the best oil to use? (2/9/2006 11:22:24 AM)

No not at all, just change the filter as well if you decide to go that route.

Thanks for the info.

aeroworks -> RE: what is the best oil to use? (2/9/2006 5:13:11 PM)

your supposed to change the oil filter with every change anyhow, so shouldn't be a problem.

Repsol1 -> RE: what is the best oil to use? (2/9/2006 7:23:32 PM)

Full synthetic without moly, MAXIMA best stuff on the planet.

sixs929 -> RE: what is the best oil to use? (2/19/2006 9:57:55 PM)

Shell Rotella-T full Synth 15w40 is what I ran in my 929 in the summer, after MUCH research. No problems, might be a bit thick in the winter, I dunno. As far as the clutch problem goes, you want to steer clear of "energy conserving " oils, because some contain friction modifiers that can retard clutch operation.

ibkevman -> RE: what is the best oil to use? (2/20/2006 9:46:49 AM)

sixs is right about he energy conserving thing. I use mobil 1 full syn.

Whitehead -> RE: what is the best oil to use? (2/20/2006 11:12:01 AM)

I've always used Honda oil in everything, and have never had a problem. my 929 had 29,000 when I sold it last week.[:)]
