alright heres the situation for the past month or so, unless i took a long ride (over 10-15 miles) the bike would be completely dead on the next start. i know its not the stator, as the bike runs flawlessly after starting. last summer, i daily rode the bike to work, 4-5 miles one way. every day it didnt rain. i know its being charged, so dont say its the short rides. i went ahead and did a draw test. from what ive read, the bike should be pulling under 2mA. i did the test, im pulling 500+ mA. i started pulling fuses to see where it was at. i finally pulled the "clock" fuse. it dropped from ~560ma to under 1. my questions are: 1 is the clock fuse just a +V to the cluster to keep the memory for the clock? does it serve any other purpose? 2 what could be drawing on that line? i know i have to look for a bad connection (corrosion), pinched line (short to ground). i have a complete wiring diagram i picked up, so that shouldnt be too hard (just a hassle). 3 has anyone heard of an internal fault with the clusters? my bike is an 06 (cali). thanks for any input. -smoke

Where did you read that the bike should pull less than 2 mA? That''s 0.002 amps. Even the constant power to the clock should pull more than that. Sounds like your battery isn''t holding a charge anymore. Get a new one.

its in the repair manual. says 2.0 mA. unless im reading that wrong. im still pulling .5 amp with the bike off. thats a huge draw. like i said, it goes away when the "clock" fuse is pulled.

it does light up the gauges, primes the fuel pump, has a 55watt low beam , rear light, how could you expect so little amperage?
