Yes, I love Hondas, and I was really excited about getting my 08.... first impression, its gorgeous, super light and agile.. and seemed pretty fast on the straights. So, I decided to do some typical mods. Got a full system akrapovic, my power commander, and performed the flapped mod for teh intake. Got it tuned ans dynoed, got my printout and my jaw dropped... the damn thing made 146hp which is 11hp less to the wheel than my 2006 1k with the same mods...as a matter of fact my 06 had only a slipon by jardine. I do only have 300miles on my new bike so I''ll prob get a couple more horses when i finish breaking it in... but common it 10 horses underpowerd....sigh.

There''s a lot of variables, the weather/temperature, humidity. So dont take it to hard but I understand how you feel. Thats partly why with most of my bikes I just go with a slip on for looks and sound. There pretty fast stock anyway .

you''re not taken in consideration that the 08 is lighter so it doesnt needs more HP per say. How were the torque specs? Thats where your seat in the pants feel comes from anyhow.

What were other bikes showing on the dyno that day?  I wouldn''t be too bummed out unless you have something to compare your bike against.

I''m not sure about the other vikes that day.. but when i got my 06 dynod it was at the same place by the same guys, at Crago Racing I dunno if anyone here knows that place... also, I don''t thing humidity would make a 10 hp dif. would it? ya my butt dyno feels great i can get up to 155 in no time flat.... havent taken it faster than that since im still breaking it in .. but if it keeps thatpace up to 180 id be very happy

just heard about an "ignition module" mod does that ring any bells? could it be why the bike is so underpowered?

I dont think his bike is under powered and yes weather conditions can easily change your dyno #s 10 hp or more. To do a fair comparison you''d have to of dynoed both your bikes the same day back to back. As far as the module mod, dont know much about since im just getting back into bikes after a 7 year layoff lol .But I do know dynos and the dyno place could of changed settings on the dyno since the last time you were there, not intentialy but just tweaking on it. Just my 2 cents. But a good gauge is to see what other bikes were doing that day numbers wise and see if they were a little low on power . Just my 2 cents

No way the thing is underpowered. It beat several other 1Ks in the shootout by more than 1 sec per lap (if I remember correctly). The same article shows 153 Hp (157 was the most - Kawi and Zuk), and the Honda had the most torque of all of them. We all know that HP varies from bike to bike slightly, and dynos can vary a LOT due to lots of reasons.

Plus, keep in mind that the Honda is 25 lb lighter than the next lightest bike. Not to mention best brakes, best suspension.....

It''s all about the complete package, not a single number.

the complete package is amazing, it feels like no other 1k.. heh feels like a 600. In the canyons l left my friend in the dust and usually we were pretty close... maybe I just feel more confident on it. But ya, i  just checked some other forums and apparaently there is a dif between uk and usa bike especially for the 08 due to timing and limitation on RPM. so I will try the ignition module, and see where that takes me... and this time I will dyno both bikes at the same time

There is no way that your bike is making only 146 hp with the mods if it was setup correctly. The dyno your using probably hasnt been calibrated recently. I have an 08 with two bros, bmc filter, PCIII and I am getting 159.1 and 81.3 ft lb tq, stock was 153.9 and 80.0. Got the ignition module on order.

Recalibrating the Dyno will do it, because when I had my cobra it dynoed at 502rwh and 510 rwt and should of been about 10 or 15 hp more like when I dynoed before but they recalibrated the dyno and it was much hotter then the last time I was there  but my car still ran 11''s in the 1/4 mile on street tires so it definately wasnt down on power either : )

Like everyone else said, Dyno''s can be effected by so many factors.  I have never had my 06'' on a Dyno.  But, I do know it makes way more power on a cold day than in the middle of the summer.  I need to get a power commandor for my bike also.  After I get a PC, I think I will take my bike over to a place in Richmond, Va called HTP Performance to get a custom map made for it.   Can you feel a difference in the power of the bike since you put on the full system and the PC?

Cool, I will do it Gary.  I had a few guys from work tell me about HTP.  As a matter of fact, there was a big article about them in the Richmond Times Dispatch Sports section.   From what I hear, they really know there stuff.
